Our History

Since its inception in 1950, the name Valls has been synonymous with excellence and experience in the international trade and transportation industry. What began as a small local customs brokerage office turned into a U.S. based international services group committed to providing exceptional service to its customers.

Valls Group has consolidated into a leading provider of international trade and transportation services specializing in providing full service vessel agency, customs brokerage, stevedoring and freight forwarding services for liquid and dry bulk, break bulk and project cargoes. Valls offers vessel agency services at 20 deep water ports on the U.S. Gulf Coast, Mississippi River and Florida East Coast and customs clearance service at mainland U.S. ports of entry and Puerto Rico

  • 1950
    Established: Customs Brokers
    Ralph Valls established Ralph Valls Customs Brokers, Laredo, Texas, it was, and to this day remains, the largest land gateway and port of entry into the U.S.
  • 1952
    Export Forwarder
    Valls secured a license to operate as an Export Forwarder at the U.S. - Mexico border.
  • 1960
    Father & Son: expand
    Richard R. Valls accepts an invitation from Ralph Valls to join in the opening of an office at the port of Corpus Christi, Texas.
  • 1978
    Established: Vessel Agency
    Valls Shipping Company is eastablished in Corpus Christi, Texas.
  • 1981
    Established: Materials Handling
    Port Corpus Terminal, Inc. is formed as a materials handling company. It later expanded and was licensed to become the stevedoring arm of Valls Group.
  • 1988
    Acquisition: CBMM
    In 1988 Richard R. Valls and Dan Ostos purchase controlling interest of Coastal Bend Mooring & Marine, Inc., a mooring and barge service provider in Corpus Christi, Texas.
  • 1996
    Aquisition: Boyd-Campbell Company
    Valls Group acquired Boyd-Campbell Company, the oldest steamship agency and stevedore in Corpus Christi, Texas. Stevedoring operations commenced as Boyd-Campbell Stevedores, Inc.
  • 2004
    Aquisition: BCM Agency
    Valls Shipping Company acquires BCM Agency to service the ports of Tampa and Port Manatee, FL.
  • 2006
    Aquisition: Sunshine Shipping, Inc.
    To further expand our Florida operations, Valls Shipping Company aquires Sunshine Shipping, Inc. to service Port Everglades, Miami and West Palm.
